Error 403: key not valid
IndexNow could not validate your key. Either the key file is missing, or its content does not match the key.
Common causes
- The key file is missing at https://<host>/<key>.txt.
- The content of the file differs from the key, stray whitespace aside.
- The key file is on a different host than the URLs, for example www versus no www.
- The request for the file redirects off the host, or returns an HTML page.
How to fix it
- Create a text file named <key>.txt that contains only the key.
- Upload it so that it opens at https://<host>/<key>.txt, or give its full address as the key file location.
- Open the address in a browser: you should see only the key.
- Run the key checker before you submit again.
